Have you ever dreamed of living in a tiny house?

Yes, they’re real, and you heard right. A tiny house — one that is about 350 square feet and can be moved. Tiny homes have everything you could need to live comfortably, and some can actually be more aesthetically pleasing than a normal home.

Tiny houses offer plenty of benefits to those who are brave enough to invest in one. You don’t have to worry about a mortgage, expenses are low, and they are environmentally friendly. Some tiny houses are also portable. All you have to do is attach it to a vehicle and you’re good to go anywhere.

You may be wondering, “How much does a tiny home cost?” The reality of it may surprise you. Recently, Joybird published a blog post comparing the price of buying a tiny home to buying an actual home. They chose to compare prices in cities such as Aspen, CO, Key Largo, FL, and Maui, HI, which are the locations of some of the most expensive homes in the U.S.

Joybird calculated the average cost of a tiny home to be about $65,000. In addition to buying a tiny home, you would need to buy a plot of land, which would cost about $185,000 in Aspen, bringing the total to $250,000. The cheapest home in Aspen is sold for around $995,000. If you were to place your own tiny home in Aspen, you would save $745,000. Feel free to spend your extra cash on some quality ski gear and outings.

If that price difference doesn’t make you consider a tiny home, here’s another example. In Key Largo, the cheapest average home is $849,000. A tiny home would again cost $65,000, and the cheapest plot of land would cost $75,000. This would save you $709,000. Who wouldn’t want to live in the keys for that cheap?
