Advertising on Facebook: The Cost
For those who are interested in advertising their products or services through Facebook, you might ask how much that would cost. The process is to bid for each click/CPC or thousand impressions/CPM. After doing that, the bid estimator will show you the scope or range of bids that are following through with auctions that are the same with yours. Then, when you already run your advertisement, the number of clicks you get (CPC) or the number of impressions that your advertisement is displaying (CPM) will be charged directly to you. You can be sure that you won’t exceed your budget because the cost of action and the number of clicks or impressions you get will already determine the cost. It’s that simple.
Advertising through Facebookis one of the many options that you have to consider. Not only is it cheaper compared to other modes of advertising, it is also very flexible and convenient to use. So why not give it a shot? Advertise your business through Facebook and you’ll see its many benefits unfold right before your eyes.
So what benefits will you get by advertising on Facebook?
1. Advertising on Facebook will allow you to reach a wider scope of people since it has millions of users.
2. It is less expensive compared to other modes of advertising. The internet offers a good option for advertising. Unlike using print or broadcast media such as radio or television, Facebook is cheaper since you don’t have to pay for the production cost.
3. With Facebook, you can direct your advertisements to your target customers. By using demographics, you can target your customers by age, gender, address, their likes and dislikes and other categories you may find useful.
4. Advertising on Facebook will easily spread your business around. Since Facebook uses the “like” option, it will instantly show up on their feeds. Just imagine how many more people will be able to see your advertisement.
5. With Facebook, you can also benefit from smart phone users. Talk about hitting two birds with one stone.
As you can see, there are some great benefits to advertising on Facebook. If you’d like to reach millions, you can definitely do it through the help of Facebook! Never did try to advertise on FaceBook before, and I heard from a friend that he is getting some positive results and good results out of it, because of the way he can set a targeted campaign for his business. I have been procrastinating it as I am, believe it or not, not yet an avid FB user. Maybe its time to remedy that. Thanks for your insights, appreciate it

The advertisements you are talking about are the ones that appear on the right side bar? I know that there’s also an advertisement option in Fan pages, are you familiar with those as well?
Thanks!

Kate,
Thanks for clearing this up… I was having a hard time figuring out the location of these ads myself.

Thanks Lauren for the great high level info about facebook advertising. I was wondering though if you had any idea how Facebook advertising costs compare to similar online CPC advertisers like Google or Microsoft’s Bing & Yahoo. If it is similar or less expensive when comparing ads and keywords that are the same.
thanks

I’m with DiTesco on all points. I think FB could be a great to drive traffic, but you definitely need a budget for that. I have found impressions are the best to go for and it’s cheaper.

I’ve often contemplated using FaceBook for advertising, but never got round to doing it, I think it could be the lack of funds at the time, though I have heard from several people that it is certainly worth investing in 😉

Advertisement through social networks is found to be very effective when taking into consideration the amount of time people spend on it. Facebook advt. offers unique exposure as it reaches millions of people when they play games or read updates.

I tried advertising on Facebook with real estate offers and I think it was about $1 something per click. I didnt seem much return though, but I didnt spend too much either. I think that once I learn about how the advertising system works on facebook I might give it a shot once more.

the big advantage of Facebook advertising is that it is relatively cheap – compared to PPC networks like Google AdWords; On the other hand, I think Facebook won’t work for all niches. Some niches will be ideal for Facebook, others (maybe even the majority) will show a very low conversion rate.

I have spent hundreds of dollars advertising on facebook, the reason I like it so much is it legt you narrow down to the exact of who you want the ads to be displayed for, so I will easily pay the $1 click if I know my ads are going to be shown to 25 year old females who live in florida and like cats 🙂
