I gotta promote who I think is one of the most influential people in my life, and one of the best musicians as well. Paul David Hewson better known as Bono (originally Bono Vox). Lead singer of U2, and an amazing man. He has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, was granted an honorary knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, and was named as a Person of the Year by Time, among other awards and nominations.

If I had to pick my all time favorite U2 song, I admit it would be a very hard thing to do… there are so many to choose from! (12 albums over 20+ years!). But I think BAD from their Unforgettable Fire album (1984) would be my all time favorite. Of course there are many honorable mentions: Where the Streets Have no Name (Joshua Tree 1987), Zoo Station (Achtung Baby 1991), and more recently City of Blinding Lights (How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb 2004).

Bono, is also someone who is a prevalent activist, out to make a difference in the world! Bono has become one of the world’s best-known philanthropic performers. He has been dubbed, “the face of fusion philanthropy”, both for his success enlisting powerful allies from a diverse spectrum of leaders in government, religious institutions, philanthropic organizations, popular media, and the business world, as well as for spearheading new organizational networks that bind global humanitarian relief with geopolitical activism and corporate commercial enterprise. Bono is significantly involved with Amnesty International, Greenpeace, and directs his energies into campaigning for third-world debt relief and raising awareness of the plight of Africa, including the AIDS pandemic (Bono is the initiator of the ONE campaign).
