Many people are eager to share photos of their experiences online, especially if they find themselves witness to a beautiful scene. It’s to a point where ‘#views’ has almost taken on a meaning of its own. And few Instagram users haven’t seen a post with this tag.
Since the location of these posts are also often visible, the data team at Next Day Blinds decided to look for trends. Using posts tagged with #view, #views, #cityscape, #rooftop, or #rooftopviews, they uncovered where people see and share these image most. Their result was a list of the cities in America with the best views. Below is the entire list:
- Grand Canyon , AZ
- Miami, FL
- San Francisco, CA
- New York, NY
- Boston, MA
- Washington DC
- Atlanta, GA
- Chicago, IL
- Las Vegas, NV
- Los Angeles, CA
Of the entire United States, most of the cities in the top 10 exist along a coastline. The only ones that don’t are the Grand Canyon AZ (#1), Washington DC (#6), Atlanta GA (#7), and Las Vegas NV (#9). All ten are visible in the map infographic.
Next Day Blinds reported the data in per capita numbers, which is why the Grand Canyon ranks #1 even while only having 2.5k posts with a “views-related” hashtag. For the same reason, NYC is ranked #4 even though it has more of these posts than any other U.S. city.
